About Earth House

Indianapolis Community Collective

The Earth House Collective is an Indianapolis community hub that collaborates with local organizations and artists to support the arts, encourage healthy living and promote sustainable community.

Partnering with Lockerbie Central UMC, Earth House features all-ages concerts, films, dance and theatre performances, an art gallery, classes, social forums, Indiana's only 100% fair-trade/organic café and unique programming like the Pay-What-You-Can meal and the Indy Free Market.

 Our History

In 2007, Lockerbie Central United Methodist Church began showing documentary films inviting community members to attend and discuss issues they felt were relevant. Participation at these events grew and by January 2008, nearly 200 of the church's neighbors were attending.

The community's response to the film viewings emphasized a need for a safe space where neighbors could gather to learn and grow in a genuine exchange of passions, values, and talents. In an effort to fulfill this need, the church collaborated with community advocates and local artists, forming Earth House Collective.

With the generous support of Lockerbie Central United Methodist Church, the Efroymson Family Fund, and the hard work of volunteers, the main levels of the church were remodeled into a community center, boasting a coffee bar, large hospitality space for forums, meeting rooms, and a stage for live performances.

In September 2008, Earth House Collective officially opened its doors to the community. Earth House continues to expand its services and programs to the public by networking with community members and local agencies that work collectively towards the positive
